As we welcome in February, we look forward to the second half of the school year.  It's amazing that the year is more than half over. This is a great time to share three key items that will help our students continue to be successful!

The first is attendance.  Most student who do extremely well have great attendance.  They are in school almost every day and on time.  Both of these things are important to learning.  We certainly understand that students do sometimes get sick and there is the need for some absences, but there is a lot learned in every moment the students are in class. In addition, students can win awards for excellent attendance, including gift cards, games, and even a bicycle.

Attendance Matters
The second is participation.  Students who are performing well in the classroom are actively engaged.  Administrators see it during their visits to the classrooms.  It is recommended that all parents encourage active participation in class.

The third is commitment. The ability and willingness to take on a challenge and stick with it is so important. We want to encourage all of our students to do their best, even when things are challenging - this is how they will accomplish great things! Our most successful students continue to work hard when times are challenging. We hope you will encourage and inspire this at home, as we do the same at Westwood Heights Schools.

"Westwood Heights Schools offers a relevant and challenging curriculum that promotes academic achievement.  We assume a central role in the community by connecting staff, parents and business partnerships."
